I Voted Yesterday (posted 11/6/24)

I voted in yesterday’s election. I voted my conscience.

I woke up early this morning. I’m doing my morning routine of making coffee, praying, worshiping, and then out to exercise soon. Then to work.

I have not looked at the election results yet. No matter how the election results turnout—and the results are important, to be sure—I will stay grounded in Jesus’ words: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

No matter the election results, which are important, I will stay in this place of peace today, tomorrow, and moving forward. I will continue to act on the challenge of 1 Timothy 2:1-2: “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”

I will regularly pray that those elected will only make decisions in righteousness and goodness, benefitting all whom they serve. I will pray that those elected and the results of the amendments and propositions will only produce goodness and benefit, praying simultaneously that no harm or evil will come from the outcome of the election results or those elected. I will continue praying that women will not die and unborn babies will not die. Only goodness and righteousness, no harm or evil, for “The kings’ heart is in the hand of the Lord…He turns it wherever He wishes” (Prov. 21:1).

That we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness.
