Olive Oil for Good Health

Olive Oil for for good health

Olive oil is commonly recommended to help prevent heart disease (and possibly cancer and lung diseases). Researchers seem to be finding more evidence that regular, daily olive oil in the diet might also help prevent Alzheimer’s and dementia. It is believed that extra-virgin olive oil protects memory and enhances learning by having an anti-inflammatory effect and by also activating a process that clears out brain “trash” and helps eliminate brain toxins. Dementia and memory problems are rampant in our society.

Since I like olives and olive oil and am not allergic to either, I think I will be more intentional about having daily olive oil in my diet… at least try to add more on my salad as a dressing. Some recommend as much as 1-2 tablespoons per day. Along with adequate sleep, a healthy prayer life, regular exercise, lots of fruits and vegetables and plant-based foods in my diet, and staying out of resentment and unforgiveness—if I remember (sorry about that)—I think I’ll give olive oil a try and see how it goes.

If you would like more detailed information about the potential health benefits of olive oil—especially how it protects memory and the brain—see the article “Olive oil is the secret ingredient fighting Alzheimer’s” at the Total Health website which can be reached at the link below.
